eDrawings Viewer by SolidWorks In this quarter’s newsletter, I want to examine the eDrawings software by Solidworks and discuss how it can make your life easier. Does this happen to you ?
As an inventor or Patent Attorney, your job often involves getting just the right drawings together to accurately represent your product. You’ll labor many hours at the table trying to come up with the right perspective and then all the parts in that perspective just to hand it off to an illustrator to redraw what you have done. If you have an existing CAD compatible file, eDrawings can easily do all that for you. eDrawings is a free program available from Solidworks which downloads in minutes not hours. It is intuitive to use and requires no training. It is compatible with almost all cad packages including Solidworks , Pro/Engineer and Auto-CAD. eDrawings gives you the control. It is a virtual model in your hands, available to you in solid or line drawing format with the tap of a key. You can take apart the model and study each of its components individually. It also allows you to view the movement of the object, measure its dimensions, areas, volumes, weights etc… An exploded view can be generated at the touch of a button. This view can be further manipulated by rotation, movement of parts and cross sections. Individual parts can be isolated, rotated, enlarged and cross sectioned to create individual figures for your application. These figures can be imported into most software used by your draftsperson as well as Microsoft Office or PowerPoint. All this and more can quickly be done by any layman. In summary eDrawings viewer is a program that is simple to use, (no training required), manipulates your model in many ways, comes with both solid image and line drawing capabilities and allows you to generate figures which can be imported into a multitude of software. Why not give it a try! _ © 2009 LimbachLines.com
